If you plan to teach in Illinois after completing your college degree, don't forget that March 1, 2012 is the priority consideration date to apply for the 2012-13
Minority Teachers of Illinois (MTI) Scholarship and
Illinois Special Education Teacher Tuition Waiver (SETTW) programs.
Applications for each of these programs can be accessed online.
Attention Illinois National Guard members who are attending an Illinois 2- or 4-year public college during the current term: the
interactive application for the 2011-12
Illinois National Guard (ING) Grant Program, used to apply for the 2012 spring term (or spring and summer terms), is due to ISAC on or before March 1, 2012. Applications received after March 1 will be considered for summer term only awards.
March 1, 2012 is the spring- and summer-term award priority application consideration date for the 2011-12
Grant Program for Dependents of Police or Fire Officers and the 2011-12
Grant Program for Dependents of Correctional Officers.
Applications received after March 1 will be considered for summer term only awards.
The 2012-13
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is
available online, and should be completed as early as possible. Although some taxpayers may need to delay the filing of their tax returns, families in this situation are encouraged to complete the FAFSA with estimated tax information so as not to delay its filing. Several resources are available to assist students and their families with the
financial aid application process, including an
Outreach Activities Calendar that lists FAFSA completion seminars and other events taking place across the State of Illinois and FAFSA on the Web Worksheets (in
English and
Spanish) that can help streamline the FAFSA process.
We are pleased to announce that it will not be necessary to reduce students’ 2011-12 Monetary Award Program (MAP) payments for the second and third terms. This decision was based on analysis of first-term payment requests, as well as the recently-approved authority to spend $33.5 million in funds that were reserved for student financial assistance. The additional funding also allows a limited number of suspended MAP awards to be released for payment, and those students will receive full-year grants, if eligible (impacted students will be notified of their award status by the college). Further details are provided in an
Important Message from ISAC to Illinois Students Regarding 2011-12 MAP Awards, which was last updated on December 22, 2011.
